About Us

The creation of Bark & Bed was a culmination of over five years of research. The concept started as a wish and a dream of having a place for pets where they would have fun, be safe, enrich their lives and truly feel at home. As pet owners, the Brewsters were unable to find a local pet care facility that would meet their high expectation of care for their dogs and cats. As the dream turned into a vision, the Brewsters worked with top experts in the pet industry to design and build the most state-of-the-art facility for this unique pet resort. Extensive research in pet boarding, daycare, grooming and training was studied to develop top operational procedures and assemble a team of dedicated experts to ensure the safety and comfort of all B&B guests. We know pet owners care deeply about their pets and deserve a place where their animals are happy and healthy, whether their need is boarding, daycare, grooming or training. The purpose of Brewster’s Bark & Bed is to fill that need.

Lindsay Brewster

From a very young age, Lindsay has always had a unique love for all animals. As a teenager, she knew she wanted to work with animals, just not the exact career path. While trying to decide on a career choice, she majored in Animal Science at the University of Tennessee. While attending college, she was an intern at the U.T. Veterinary Hospital, and worked for Off The Leash Pet Sitting, where she provided in-home pet sitting and dog walking. Lindsay later decided she was interested in being more hands-on with animals, instead of the diagnostic aspect of care. She changed her education pursuit to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician and enrolled in the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician Program. Over the past two years, she has worked as a vet tech at a local veterinary office, and is certified in Pet First Aid & CPR. While attending school and work, she was simultaneously researching the pet boarding and daycare industry. She began attending pet conferences, networking and building a business plan. After pitching her dream to her parents, they believed in her vision and decided to invest with her on the project. Lindsay is a member of the IBPSA (International Boarding & Pet Service Association). In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys volunteering at the Blount County Animal Center and spending time with her three cats, Kenicke, Riggins and Rosie (all rescues from local shelters) and her dog, Harper (a German Shepherd).

Tommy & Debbie Brewster

To say Tommy and Debbie have a passion for dogs would be an understatement. Animals have always been a large part of the Brewsters’ family. Over their 29+ years of marriage, Tommy and Debbie have owned a long list of animals: Labrador Retrievers, a Newfoundland, rescue cats, bunnies, birds and fish, just to name a few. Deciding to invest in their daughter Lindsay’s vision of Brewster’s Bark & Bed seemed like a natural fit.

Tommy is a third-generation builder and is the owner of Tommy Brewster Builders. He is the proud owner of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Ripley. Tommy is a very active member, and former board member, of the Smoky Mountain DockDog organization, where Ripley is a champion DockDog. Ripley was invited to the World Championships for three consecutive years. When Tommy is not building homes you will find him outdoors, duck hunting and fishing.

Debbie was born and raised in Maryville. Her family owns and operates C & C trucking. After receiving a business degree from U.T., she started Cable Construction, where she has worked for the past 34 years. Debbie has a passion for helping others; she volunteers at the Blount County Animal Center and the Fairview United Methodist Church food pantry. She is certified in Pet First Aid & CPR. She is very excited about this new venture, where she can work with dogs and cats every day. Debbie has broad business experience, which is a valuable asset to the success of Bark & Bed. When Debbie is not working or volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her family and taking daily walks with her nine-year-old Saint Bernard, Isabel.

Teresa Winters

Hiring Teresa Winters was the final “piece of the puzzle” to get Brewster’s Bark & Bed from vision to reality. Teresa is a long time family friend of the Brewsters. She left the corporate world, where she worked as a financial analyst for 24+ years. She is skilled in all aspects of business, and will be our Operation’s Manager. Although leaving Whirlpool Corporation was not an easy decision, she could not think of a job with better perks: at Brewster’s B&B, her 10-year-old Boxer, Wynsdey “will be her co-worker.” Teresa has been a key element to the planning and execution of Bark & Bed. She is also certified in Pet First Aid & CPR.  When she is not working, she can be found relaxing by the pool, reading and spending time with her family.
